    An important target of HYVOLUTION is to involve industrial companies. The aim is to exchange ideas on the subject of sustainable production of clean hydrogen from biomass with a network of specialists from industry and research institutes and learn about each others experiences and expectations. For this reason HYVOLUTON is present at the H2-Expo Hamburg this year. Additionally an Industry Workshop will take place in the Conference Center on 23rd October 2008. Workshop participation is free of charge.

What role can biomass play in a greater security of supply of hydrogen? The European Integrated Research Project HYVOLUTION will provide an answer to this question. Based on a novel approach a combined bioprocess is developed employing thermophilic and phototrophic bacteria. The aim is the efficient production of renewable hydrogen at small scale from locally produced biomass. This bioprocess adds to the number and diversity of H2 production routes giving greater security of supply at the local and regional level. Moreover, this new technology contributes a complementary strategy to fulfill the increased demand for renewable hydrogen expected in the transition to the Hydrogen Economy.
