International Energy Agency

One of the objectives of the Netherlands Biohydrogen Network is to promote international knowledge exchange and co-operation. To this end the Network co-ordinates the contribution of the Netherlands R&D sector to exchange organized by the International Energy Agency. The IEA co-ordinates international co-operation and knowledge exchange in the field of biological hydrogen production in Research task 15 entitled 'Photobiological Hydrogen production' of the IEA Hydrogen Program, which includes several Research Tasks.

Task 15, Photobiological Hydrogen Production, has recently been extended to 2004. The overall objective is to sufficiently advance the basic and early-stage applied science in this area of research over the next five years to allow an evaluation of the potential of such a technology. For detailed information on background, objectives and research subtasks of Task 15 see document on extension/continuation of Annexe 15.

International exchange and co-operation on bio-methane production is coordinated in the
IEA Bioenergy Implementing Agreement Task 37 = Energy from biogas and landfill gas
